Temporary VIPs

A new feature is on the way to aiosbot: Temporary VIPs.

The Temporary VIP system allows you to grant a Twitch user VIP status for a predefined amount of time. Once that time has expired, aiosbot will automatically remove the VIP status again.

This can be combined with different aiosbot features and actions, making it possible to automate temporary VIP rewards without having to manually keep track of when a user's VIP status should be removed.

⏱️ Automatic VIP Management

When the Temp VIP action is executed, aiosbot assigns VIP status to the selected Twitch user and starts tracking the configured duration.

Once the timer expires, the bot automatically removes the VIP status.

If the same user receives another temporary VIP while they still have time remaining, the durations are added together instead of replacing the existing timer.

For example:

A viewer currently has 3 days of VIP remaining and receives another 7-day Temporary VIP reward.

Their remaining VIP duration will automatically be increased to 10 days.

This means you don't have to manually track multiple rewards or calculate expiration dates yourself.

🎁 Example: Temporary VIPs via Channel Points

One possible use case is combining Temporary VIPs with Twitch Channel Point Rewards.

For example, you could create a Twitch Channel Point Reward called:

⭐ Become a VIP for 7 Days

After creating the reward on Twitch, you can connect it to aiosbot using Add Channel Point Reward.

Add the Temp VIP action to the Channel Point Reward.

The action requires a few pieces of information:

User ID

First, aiosbot needs to know which Twitch user should receive the VIP status.

For a Channel Point Reward, you normally want this to be the viewer who redeemed the reward. Instead of entering a fixed Twitch User ID, you can use the following parameter:

{general.userid}

This automatically provides the User ID of the viewer who triggered the reward.

Duration

Next, define how long the temporary VIP status should remain active.

For example, you could configure the reward to grant VIP status for several hours, days, or another period depending on how you want to use the feature.

aiosbot will handle the expiration automatically.

Optional Twitch Message

You can also add a Twitch Message as a second action.

This can be used to immediately confirm the successful redemption in chat, for example:

⭐ {general.username} is now a VIP for the next 7 days!

With this configuration, the complete process is automated:

Viewer redeems Channel Point Reward → aiosbot grants VIP → confirmation is sent to chat → timer is tracked → VIP is automatically removed when the time expires.

Full example:

🔄 Multiple Redemptions

Temporary VIP durations are cumulative.

If a viewer triggers another Temporary VIP action before their current VIP period has expired, the new duration is simply added to their existing remaining time.

For example:

Current remaining time: 5 days
New reward: +7 days
New remaining time: 12 days

This also means that Channel Point Rewards can be redeemed multiple times without losing any previously earned VIP time.

⚙️ Managing Temporary VIPs

To make it easy to keep track of VIPs managed by aiosbot, a dedicated management page has been added to the web interface.

You can find it under:

Bot → Automation → Temp VIPs

The overview shows the Temporary VIPs currently being managed by aiosbot and their status.

From here, you can also manually manage individual entries. For example, you can:

• Check the current status and remaining VIP duration

• Extend an existing Temporary VIP

• End a Temporary VIP early

This gives you full control whenever manual intervention is necessary, while the normal expiration process remains completely automated.

💡 More Than Just Channel Points

Channel Points are only one example of how Temporary VIPs can be used.

Since Temp VIP is implemented as an aiosbot action, it can also be combined with other features and automation possibilities throughout the bot.

This makes it possible to build your own workflows around temporary VIP access instead of limiting the feature to one specific trigger.

The main principle remains the same:

You decide what triggers the VIP status and how long it should last — aiosbot takes care of managing it afterwards.
