URL Filter – Smart Link Protection for Your Chat

What This Feature Does

The URL Filter automatically detects and removes unauthorized links from chat messages. It works by analyzing message content for potential URLs and deleting messages that contain unapproved links.

Important: For the system to function correctly, Twitch’s built-in URL filter must be disabled, as it would otherwise block links before aiosbot can process them.

💡 Why Choose aiosbot?

Most systems—including Twitch's default filter—work by blocking anything that looks like word.word, regardless of context. This leads to false positives, such as when a user forgets a space after a period (e.g. "Thanks.Stream was great!") or when a viewer posts their own channel clip.

aiosbot takes a smarter approach:

  • We still detect potential links using the base word.word logic.

  • But before acting, we validate whether the pattern actually leads to a real website.

  • This drastically reduces false positives and ensures only real, potentially harmful links are blocked.

Key Benefits

  • Intelligent Detection – Only blocks links that lead to actual websites

  • False Positive Prevention – Typing mistakes or safe text won't trigger the filter

  • Custom Whitelisting – Allow specific domains like youtube.com

  • Role-Based Rules – Set different permissions for Viewers, Subscribers, VIPs

  • Clip Permissions – Define which Twitch channels are allowed to post clips

🔄 Planned Improvements

We’re actively improving the URL filter with exciting new features:

  • Permit Command – Temporarily allow a user to post a link (e.g. !permit username)

  • Custom Reactions – Choose between delete, timeout, or ban

  • Custom Messages – Display a message when a link is removed
